Lese Majeste – Thai Style…

One of the things that I loved about living in Thailand was how Thai people all revered their king. Although he is a constitutional monarch and has no day to day authority over how the country is run, King Bhumibol is their patriarch, a constant, calming figure. While I was there I learned about the law which forbids anyone from critisizing the king, or defacing anything with his likeness on it, but I didn’t know what it was called, or whether anyone ever got in trouble for it. So I was very interested to read this article this morning.
