Sharepoint…or SQL Server?

So, interesting discussion at work today around the insanely successful proliferation of Microsoft’s Sharepoint product.  The discussion was around the actual management and adminsitration of this product within businesses.  It seems that this technology has proven to have its legs, but who is responsible for administering Sharepoing within the business/enterprise?  The backend of Sharepoint is SQL Server…BUT…the SQL Server DBA is most likely not the administrator for Sharepoint because a)  they don’t know Sharepoint and b) they don’t even really know where, what or why Sharepoint is in the business!  So, there seems to be a disconnect and some confusion around who does administer / manage Sharepoint in a business…because it doesn’t appear to be the SQL Server DBA and there’s no such thing (YET) as a Sharepoint Administrator.
